ArcelorMittal: Clearer processes and better risk assessment
ArcelorMittal Construction Sweden AB is part of the ArcelorMittal group, which is one of Europe’s leading producers of construction sheet metal. At the Karlstad office is Jennie Sonesson, who caught the eye of 2c8 and their product several years ago. Before they started using 2c8 Apps, the management system consisted of Word and Excel documents in binders.
“It was unmanageable, hard work and out of date. When I presented the 2c8 Modeling Tool to the management, there were immediate cheers,” says Jennie Sonesson.
Together with colleague Anders Olsson, responsible for quality, environment and safety, they began mapping the employees’ processes. Through interviews, they found out strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks and began to map how the processes looked like.
“We visualized both main and support processes. Today, we have significantly fewer documents and the accountants are very satisfied and have used us as an example”, says Jennie Sonesson.
Fewer deviations
In addition to the need to make visible and visualize the processes, there was a need to link risk and action management to the processes. This was made possible through integration with Stratsys plugin.
“The tool is used by both product managers and foremen and they benefit greatly from it in meetings to get a clear overview, identify risks, see the status and manage improvement proposals. The information does not just end up in an excel file and be forgotten, but is followed up continuously”, says Jennie Sonesson.
Right now, work is being done to increase engagement around the management system through 2c8 Lite and Stratsys. With 2c8 Lite, several people can be involved in the administration and with Stratsys, operational support is given regarding planning and follow-up regarding audits and risk management.
Anders and Jennie see several advantages with the tool.
“The tool is visual and clear. We have gained increased accessibility as anyone can access forms and checklists and we have gained much clearer process responsibility,” adds Anders Olsson and explains that they now work more continuously with the process work and in this way have had fewer deviations.
“The first year with 2c8 we only had 15 compared to 103 the year before”, we are very pleased, says Anders Olsson.
